Education at all levels is critical for the development of the EOS Project. In order to have an
adequate number of trained scientists who will be able to utilize the EOS data in 2010 - 2020, we
must start training these future scientists while they are still in grade school. Here we see a
group of 8th Grade volcanologists that we have taken out to Kilauea Volcano on the Big Island of
Hawaii. The kids now know all about lava flow types, and the effects of volcanic gases on the
atmosphere and ecosphere. Hopefully, some of these individuals will be able to propose new
instrumentation that will fly on the 4th version of the EOS A.M. platform! Photo by Lorna
